Black Diamond was formed over 20 years ago but it was built on the foundation of Chouinard Equipment that had been serving outdoor enthusiasts, mostly alpinists, since 1957.
The company continues to expand its reach and now offers a huge array of outdoor sports equipment including skis, boots, and bindings for winter mountain adventure. Most gear is designed, tested and manufactured by Black Diamond or its sister operation Black Diamond Asia in China. Black Diamond makes a point of confirming that manufacturing in China is done in its own factory so that products meet the same quality control standards as products made in any of its other facilities.
All-new this year is the Efficient Series of boots and skis that is geared toward lightweight touring. The Power series covers more hard-core frontside/backside adventuring.
