DYNAFIT BINDINGS
Dynafit bindings are unique. By using a set of pincers at the toe the binding can be up to 75% lighter than other bindings, a huge advantage in alpine touring. The weight difference alone can amount to up to 6 tons of increased load carried at 1000 meters by skiers who have to lift a few grams more with every step.
The Dynafit boot/binding system is the type where the binding only works with boots that have metal hard points to accept the toe piece pivot pins. It’s an efficient system where only the boot pivots at the toe with no binding parts attached to the boot that have to be moved and lifted with every step. It’s also a system that allows a low boot position close to the ski.

The key to the system is a pincers-type toe piece that grips the boot toe via metal pins.

As the binding closes, the pins lock into matching metal inserts in the boot toe. The result is a wobble-free metal-to-metal grip that Dynafit says offers a more anatomically correct, energy-saving release as well as lower stand height on the ski. Despite its minimalist look, Dynafit says this system provides the kind of lock-down needed for extreme mountaineering where coming out of your bindings is not an option. Only boots with the Dynafit inserts can be used with this type of binding.
