Dynafit

Dynafit is a huge name in freeheel and AT but it is a name well-known to the alpine crowd too. Franz Klammer won Olympic Gold in his Dynafits in 1976 and Dynafit went on to win the Downhill World Cup 8 times. A number of owners over the years and even a halt to ski boot production in 1998 are also part of Dynafit’s story. Currently Dynafit offers a full line of alpine touring boots as well as bindings and skis.

The Dynafit boot/binding system is the type where the binding only works with boots that have metal hard points to accept the toe piece pivot lugs. It’s an efficient system where only the boot pivots at the toe with no binding parts attached to the boot that have to be moved and lifted with every step. It’s also a system that allows a low boot position close to the ski.

Pebax plastic is used on many models of boots. Pebax is about 20% lighter than traditional materials and has outstanding mechanical properties including long fatigue life even at cold temperatures making it an ideal choice for ski boots. Liners are typically thermo-formable type.
