Fischer continues to expand and refine its line of ski boots that feature Soma-Tec. Soma-Tec is Fischer’s proprietary design that places the feet in a slightly toes-out position.
The Soma Progressor 100 is new for this season and is aimed at advanced/expert skiers. It’s a high performance boot but not a race model so performance comes with some nice perks like the slippery material in the liner cuff to help in getting them on. All the other adjustments in forward lean, cuff alignment and shell fine-tuning you would expect in a boot of this caliber are present. Last size is 100mm meaning the distance across the 1st and 5th metatarsal of the forefoot (roughly from the ball of the foot to the little toe). That puts it in the performance category but not in the race camp where boots are as narrow as 95mm. Comfort-oriented boots may go as wide as 103mm.
If 100mm still sounds a bit narrow, know that a special liner with an elastic neoprene toe section is standard.
