DALBELLO SKI BOOTS

The boot range has two distinct types, 3-piece (Cabrio) and conventional 2-piece overlap.

The Cabrio design is a rigid open-top shell for the lower section with a hinged cuff and a separate plastic tongue that closes the boot and regulates flex similar to what the old Raichle Flexon used to do. Comparisons to that old design are inevitable but Dalbello points out that they have made so many improvements to that concept that true comparison is not valid.

Last year Dalbello introduced a new race boot series called Scorpion and a new AT/Backcountry series called Virus. This year will see the introduction the new RDP (Rider Development Project) series of pro rider ski boots and the Viper/Mantis collection of advanced performance boots.

“ID” refers to optional Intuition custom heat moldable liners.

Some Dalbello boots are listed in UK shoe size. UK 3 corresponds to Mondopoint 23.1 and UK 10 is 27.3 Mondopoint. The full conversion chart for men and women can be seen here »

SCORPION SERIES

Austrian skiing legend Christian Mayer developed the Scorpion high performance boot series. It’s an uncompromising performance boot but it features Dalbello’s innovative Contour 4 fit system to allow a precision fit without some of the common problems of typical “performance” fits. Contour 4 refers to “shell relief point” where the shell is pre-punched in common hot spots (ankle, heel, 5th metatarsal, navicular). The idea is to provide maximum comfort right out of the box. An additional fit feature in the top model SR 130 and SR 150 is interchangeable boot boards to customize and fine-tune stance.

This year Scorpion is offered in SR (race) and SF (big mountain/freeride) versions.

Scorpion SR 150
Sizes UK 3 – 8.5
Flex 150, 95mm plug fit, 98mm performance last width

Scorpion SR 130

Flex 130, 98mm last width
A slightly softer version of SR 150 above. This boot also features interchangeable footboards and solid soles.
Scorpion SR 110

VIPER SERIES

Viper is a new series (women’s version is Mantis) aimed at athletic skiers that can handle all terrain. This series borrows the Contour 4 Fit concept from Scorpion for a better high performance fit. It also debuts a completely new, lightweight tri-injection process that bonds 3 types of plastic into one structure. Another feature worth mentioning is that there are unique lasts for men and women. Most boot brands use one last for both men and women but use a different cuff for women’s boots.

In order to comfortably accommodate the specific anatomical requirements of the women’s foot shape, all Dalbello women’s models feature tapered rear foot lasting as well as innerboot constructions that are narrower than men’s models and feature luxurious fleece and “faux fur” lining textiles.
