Fischer Boots

All Fischer boots feature Soma-Tec which is a configuration whereby the foot is positioned slight toes-out and centered over the mid-line of the ski. Fischer says Soma-Tec optimizes power transfer, improves edge grip and puts less strain on the joints.

New – Vacuum Fit
Fischer surprised most ski industry people by launching a completely new concept in boot fitting with its Vacuum Fit system. If this was Apple, it would call Vacuum Fit a killer app. A killer app renders all similar technology obsolete over night. At the heart of Vacuum Fit is a patented polymer called Vacu-Plast that forms the shell. Fischer flexed its technology muscle by developing Vacu-Plast specifically for ski boots. It is 15% lighter than conventional boot plastic, vibration damping is better, temperature stability is twice as good and it can be re-formed numerous times.

The basic concept is that the customer dons the heated boot which is then compressed with at air bladder, forcing the plastic to conform to the natural foot shape. It will also expand where necessary, up to 5mm in foot width for example. Even forward lean and a small amount of canting will change according to the customer’s stance during the 10 minute fitting process.

Fischer says this system allows retailers to offer customers a 100% perfect fit, all in one process. Only high end boots feature the Vacuum Fit system for now but it’s certain that more will follow.
