Sweet Spot
By Martin Olson

Sometimes the phrase “sweet spot” is used in describing how a ski performs. It’s a way of describing how easy it is to find balance fore and aft on the ski.

Skis with a small sweet spot are agile and fun to ski on but require skills to master (slalom skis) while a large sweet spot is good for learners and intermediate skiers.

Skis with a consistent, even flex pattern are most likely to have a large sweet spot.

A small sweet spot is like having a small balance area under the foot. Imagine balancing on top of a small support as opposed to a large one.
