As if buying boots wasn’t confusing enough, ski boot sizes are given in a system called Mondopoint.
The idea with Mondopoint is that one size system works all over the world so boots can leave the factory with a size label that buyers in Japan will understand as well as buyers in Banff. Or misunderstand. Mondopoint is actually simple. The length of your foot in centimeters is your Mondopoint size.
The reason that brands can fit differently despite the same size depends on how much space the boot-maker feels is necessary for the liner to fit comfortably. That’s why buying ski boots on ebay is dicey. There’s no substitute for trying them on with a competent boot-fitter.
