Remember out-of-the-box thinker Steven Cobbs from Seattle, Washington and his innovative wavy-edge snowboard design?
Magne-Traction is a series of waves along the edge that apparently re-distributes pressure and localizes it for maximum performance and balance. Imagine a dull bread knife.
Magne-Traction also claims to improve performance with better control and grip. Steven Cobbs of Lib Technologies had an interesting motto, “Innovation even we don’t understand.”
Magne-traction has now gone to the masses in the new Rossignol Mag boards that feature Magne-Traction wavy edges. To date the only skis made with this technology were called Narrow Ass Snowboards.
Skiers don’t really care what they are called, but we are all waiting for the first Rossignol all-mountain skis with Magne-Traction. There is no reason why snowboarders should get all the perks.
